The black-faced spoonbill is a large water bird. It's funky-looking, it's special to the coasts of East Asia, and it’s endangered.

During mating seasons, it builds nests on rocky islands off of North Korea. In the winters, it takes refuge in the warm wetlands of Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Naturally, we set off to look for the enigmatic bird along its migratory route through Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
